juicing wheatgrass roots

I did it. Be careful. There is often mold on wheat grass roots. Make sure the roots are young and grown without soil (their gnarled nature would make washing soil difficult to do.) I see mold on some my grass trays starting about the time the grass is 10 days old and on all of them by the time i'm growing my second cutting.

The roots i juiced were from immature (not yet green) grass shoots. I considered the possibility of toxins in raw sprouts but rationalized that that problem is mostly found in legumes (as well as buckwheat.) I concluded that since i eat teff, quinoa and amaranth raw, roots and all, i could take the gamble. It was worth it. They were not too tasty by themselves but added a wonderful extra sweetness to carrot juice, at about 1 part to 8 and to carrot/wheat-grass juice. Best of all though was the pulp. I have the big Marathon twin gear machine and the pulp comes out very very dry. The pulp was like chewing gum, dense, chewy and delightfully sweet. Pre juiced roots are good too but are a bit intense at first chew and lack the chewiness of dry pulp ... i guess cuz by the time you chew out the juice you've mixed in saliva.

Good Luck, watch for mold or black wheat grains (which precedes the mold and may indicate the presence of mold spores about to bloom) and Enjoy. Most important though trust in your own intuition. Everything i wrote is true and as i sit here typing i'm chewing down some roots, but how would you know that?
All animals have instincts. This is self evident. Generations after generation knows what food to eat and feed their young, where to sleep etc. Intuition is instinct evolved. Humans have strayed so unbelievably and horrendously far from the natural order that they trust not in themselves but in whoever makes the best promises. It's bizarre to see this repeated time after time in the full light of blatant contradictions. This is just as true about doctors as politicians and others. Bruce Springsteen in the opening to the song "War" on his live album said this ... "...blind faith in your leaders OR ANYONE will get you killed"
Trust your intuition. If you're not sure how to tap into it just ask what ever higher power you trust in how to do it, how to recognize it. This is especially true if the higher power you trust in is innate, inner wisdom itself cuz guess what ... that's intuition! And if you trust in an external deity or whatever it makes no difference. You're innards heard you praying loud and clear and if the question's clear and also sincere all you gotta do then is pay attention to what catches your attention.
