One thing that drives me to consume cups and cups of green tea is the fact that I'll be reaping the health benefits of green tea afterward. The health benefits have been known worldwide though word of mouth and through advertisements shown in the television and print ads. However, the benefits are not clearly explained. This article aims to explain the myriad of benefits that the tea antioxidants offer. Not only can you enjoy the benefits but the taste as well.
There is more that meets the eye. Apart from having a great color, smell and taste, the tea has health benefits that can help you in your medical problems. Green tea has antioxidants that:
• Prevents cancer cells from developing - the tea reportedly prevents or reduce bladder, colon, esophageal, pancreas, rectum and stomach cancer. The EGCG or the epigallocatechin gallate in green tea is more efficient than Vitamins C and E in defending cells from the carcinogens. What makes the EGCG great is its ability to exterminate cancer cells without damaging the adjacent healthy cells.
• Lowers cholesterol levels - low density lipoprotein or LDL is lowered in continuous intake of green tea. In consequence, HDL or high density lipoprotein is improved. This fact makes the tea-consumers happy as they can eat food high in cholesterol minus the worries in getting a high cholesterol count.
• Prevents thrombosis - drinking the tea will impede abnormal blood clot development. If this abnormal development is not stopped, thrombosis might occur and clog the blood vessels. Thrombosis, in turn, causes heart diseases. Fortunately, consuming the tea prevents all of these.
• High blood pressure reduction - Angiotensin II is subdued to lower high blood pressure. If not subdued, blood vessels contract.
