When does your grass see light ?

Once you have layed out your seeds on the soil, how long (in inches or cm's) do you wait before you expose it to indirect sun light ?

Do you cover your tray from light? How, why and for how long ?

Good Question - Hope to see someone respond

Also wondering is there another purpose for covering it other than holding in the moisture?

OK - I did an experiment.
Seeded two identical trays the same day
Kept one covered with paper towel for first 3 days.
Left the other uncovered.
Misted them both the same - only the one with paper towel had the towel misted also
after 3 days the paper towel one was 1/4- 1/2 inch taller
At that point they were both treated the same.
The one with no paper towel never caught up with the towel one.
In fact the paper towel one was harvested before another non towel one that was planted the day before.

That's interesting, I wonder if that has to do with the paper towel keeping it moist rather than depriving it of light. Im finding leaving my wheat grass out in the cold weather grows at a snails pace. I made another batch and kept it inside and the it grow at almost twice the speed and health. Outside in the cold weather it seemed as though it even stopped growing.

When you say you mist it, are you spraying it with a spray bottle. Iv been considering this but havnt got an empty spray bottle to try yet. That would save me from watering outside and bringing it back in each day.

Yes I use a spray bottle.
And I do believe it is mostly because the paper towel keeps the moisture in more than keeping the light out.

Also I am growing indoors right now - which keeps the temps more stable than outside - but the past week it has cooled off and the house is not as warm - things are coming up a little slower (after about 3 days they seem to be 1/2" to 1" shorter than a few weeks ago)

PS I just build an 'ebb n flow' watering system - so far so good.

Before sowing, We should have to study few things about lawn seed like temperature which minimum required , time (when we can grow it as well),equipment (which is essential for lawn,i.e roller and boards). I have also planned to grow new lawn at outdoors of home. But i need to more labor for this activities.
