Two simple questions

Hello all, new here! Also new to Wheatgrass!

I picked up some growing supplies (seed, trays, hydroponic mats), and have a few quick questions:

1) In the instructions, it said to discard the Hydroponic mats after use. I was a bit disappointed that they aren't re-usable. That might get expensive after a while, as would constantly buying new soil, etc. I'm wondering what people's experience is with cheap hydroponic alternatives. One tutorial had a guy just using wet paper towels, and another referred to a "baby blanket" (but not sure what exactly that was supposed to be).

2) I live in Seattle, and it's winter. In other words, we don't get much sun this time of year. Will that be a problem? If I leave it by a window on a succession of cloudy days, is that sufficient?

cheers!

I kinda know what you're going through, (because I live in Minnesota and the winters here suck) but as far as growing in doors you shouldn't have any problem. After I sprout the seeds and they've grown in darkness for 2 to 3 days, I just set them in front of any window where they receive the most day/sunlight and I leave them there till it's time to harvest.

I would try the same and see what results you get.

hope this helps.
