Hydroponics
Is anyone on here at the moment using hydroponics to grow there wheatgrass?
If so can you drop me an email so that we could chat a little more, as this is what I am currently trying to use to grow my wheatgrass. I would rate my current rate of success at about a kind 1 out of 10. My goal is to design or make something, that will allow me to produce enough juice eveyday for my family and friends plus myself. At the moment I just seem to be getting mold on every tray I start and when I do actually grow some grass to desired level. When it is finally juiced it seems to seperate into a green and brown in the glass once it has been left for alittle while. brown being at the top of the glass. All I do is pour the brown liquid down the drain and drink the green coloured liquid. I am now really at my wits end. I have read the books, and now would just like to try some nice fresh wheatgrass juice grown by me hydroponically. I am sorry if I coming across as pathetic its just that I am trying so hard, but just not producing anything of any use. Student B Last edited by Student-B : 06-19-2006 at 08:04 PM. |

More than likely..........
More than likely....You are in a region that has plenty of sunlight ...but not strong enough...perhaps you are "shading " you wheatgrass too much...Next...Are you ventalating ...FANS...I use 5 -2 horsepower turbo fans in a 100ftX30ft. wide greenhouse! Costs alot to run them...but other wise ...mold. ALSO the water ...is it clorine free? and filtered and PURE? Some bacterial iron in deep wells can contribute to the mold factor. In the warmer weather are you "short " soaking your berries(seeds)...talking 5-7 hours instead of 12. Softenighting the berries will attribute to mold also. What do you amend your soiless mix with...we use food grade sea kelp MEAL. From Canada. Switch to Hard red SPRING wheat....higher protien. Did I give you a clue?
