New Grower
I am having trouble with the sparsness of the wheatgrass. I sprout until 1/4 tails appear and then sow in soil. I pretty much cover the entire flat but I would guess perhaps 1/3 of the sprouts result in grass. Also, the tips of the grass turn brown. I am growing indoors. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciate by both me and the cat.
Cheers Deen |

welcome!
Soaking too long or sprouting too long...1/4 inch roots?.....as you handle the berries the roots wills break off. If you are using GOOD berries no need to cover them. If they sprout after you soak them(do not get the seeds mushy) and they sprout ...THINK! they surely will sprout in the tray. Remember ...too much ...not enough...and with prctice ...just RIGHT! That goes for the amount of water sprouting sunlight and soil amendment(fertalizer). Tray to have an even layer of seedsa in each tray. and perhaps back off on the water. If your growing medium is WET...not moist the roots may tend to rot.

I think it would be a CONSIDERATION .....
When a NEW member enters the forum...voluntaraly give the State you live....it can help a bit when trying to give quality answers to questions about growing.Right now I wish , hope and pray....that instead of 50 commercial growers the number someday reaches 5,000. But since the drugstore people open a NEW store in this country EVERY 19 minutes!! It will be a LONG time catching up! ...DRUG FREE America....my ass. EAT WELL and Stay GREEN and BE Healthy! ![]() |
