What went wrong, pls help!

Hi,
I just started growing wheatgrass for juicing again, but 2 yrs ago I did growth some for fun with no problem, the grass is green and good blade size, even the first few days of sprouting on the soil indoor, with no problem. 100% success.

Currently I am facing the same problem for over 4 tray, I would like all you expert to give me some help.

I putting the plant at indirect sunlight, for the first 2 tray, 1 tray growing have some brown on the sprout and stun the grow or it wont grow and die.

Will it be the soil i am using causing all this problem, cause within this 2 tray(wheat grass tray) I am trying 2 diffenrece type of soil combination. 1. Clay soil + 50% compost, 2. Top soil + 50% compost(all compost is make by my self).

So, tray 1, result as picture show below
No enough post, cannot show picture.

You can clearly see that it become brown 'stem' after it get about half inc tall and ready to go out for some sunlight. But some grow will. Will it be my soil have problem that cause all this?

Tray 2, with 100% success, I am using same type of Organic cert. seed.
No enough post, cannot show picture.sigh

I can email you the picture who ever welling to help me.

I would think it's the soil.

What you can do is test the seeds in a regular bag of organic soil. You can pick up one of these at your local garden store for pretty cheap.

if it still causes that problem then I'd think it's the seeds.

One question I have is, how much do you water it?
Under watering or over watering can cause all kinds of problems, and this could be something that is causing it to die faster.

Some food for thought
