Many of the commercial growers have called me personally to discus growing. They go to say a SOHO show at the convention center here and notice that IF Omega is using my wheatgrass to show how ell their machines work...and they taste DRELICH PREIMIUM WHEATGRASS....that it is exceptional.

I tell them what I use to grow with....and they wonder why I do not use cheaper growing products>>>>>AND make at least twice the profit.

I think more people are selling juicers right now than are growing wheatgrasss commmercially for the general public to enjoy!

I am getting the feeeling that you DO belive in Wheatgrass and Barley juice for BETTER HEALTH.....used to PREVENT cronic problems from arising.

There is a Pentacostal minister who takes fresh wheatgrass juice to old age homes and hospitals....and gives it to people. He buys ten bags a week from me.

"SUPER" Blue Green Alge has been used and enjoyed for a long long time....GOOD...no...VERY GOOD for the body!. But telling people that a FROZEN....Expensive product is said to be 5 times better than fresh JUICE. I do not think so.

When you try a bag of my wheatgrass....and THEN if you say my product is JUST LIKE the rest of the commercial wheatgrass you have had.

I will then THINK your opinion is JUSTIFIED!....Wake up!

Toyota back in the 60's came out with a BETTER >>>CHEAPER car. People still bought Ford....the Pinto...Chevy Vega...etc. But long after the domestic cars were in the junk yard.....the Toyota corolla's were still going on their merry way....with less maintance also.

Theres a big differance between sweetness and nutrition.And there is a big differance in nutrient profiles of wheatgrass;a fractionated foodstuff;and algae a whole food stuff.Your nutritional nonsense is dully noted.Commercial wheatgrass that has been harvested for over3hrs. isnt food its compost or goat food!Consuming subpar foods is foolish and not cost effective.The overhype of grass juic continues through the profitiers,BUYER BE WHERE.Generic is the best the commercial greenhouse growers have to offer.Expensive growing medium what a joke!!

So I suppose that EVERY cronicly ill person....OR...people that just donot have the time to grow their own fresh wheatgrass. I think the Administrator should take a poll as to who has more ground to stand on....A Fresh wheatgrass grower using the BEST growing ingridients...and who has seen dozens and dozens of people get their miricles happen form drinking the product. Or at least be in BETTER health than before they started to drink it. And believes that the Hippocrates institue in West Pam & the Optimum Health Clinic in California....and the Ann Wigmore Retreats in Arizona and Porto Rico. Have a direct bearing on why I am endorsing a Real Fresh Comple Food product.

The first person to come down my driveway looking to buy a bag of wheatgrass....had RARE blood desease....And asked me if mywheatgrass was OK for him to drink.....I sent him away beacuse I did not know.

That is while I use a "expensive" soiless custom mix NO wetting agent(chemical...and no start up fertalizer...again made man jmost of the the time...I prefer to use FOOD GRADE sea KELP ..MEAL:..not liquid. Ann Wigmore recommended it...but then she was not as smart as you JJ43!

I did not think that the initial effect wheatgrass juice had on me was real. When it put wind in my sails the second time...I was hooked...going on for 24/7 the past 9 years.

Right now there are good , bad , and evil people...and the fourth kind who do not respect anything or anyone....(do things just for the chuckles).

The people who make their way towards the fresh wheatgrass I grow ...are not looking for LAUGHS.

I was trying to figure out your soil formula ratio. In a previous post you said you use 50% compost made from used wheat grass flats. What is the other 50% composed of? Thank you!

The commercial grower of 9 years.....
We mix in fresh bags of our soiless mix into the composted mix....
We toss our composted matts with a 40hp John Deer Tractor....
Adding the fresh bags of chemical free Farfard Custom mix with plenty of perlite for airation makes it easier to handled when refilling the trays.
Also we add Food Grade Sea Kelp MEAL,,,,,From Canada!

What are the effects of smoking wheatgrass? and is it healthy?

I jut bought a 5lb bag of wheat grass red seeds and 5 trays that have the bottom tray to collect all the excess water...

I have never personally grown anything in my life so I am a bit confused about the fertilizer and soil. After reading through the posts on this thread some people are saying that azomite is a good fertilizer and so is seaweed extract. is fertilizer and soil the same thing?

ot should i stick with the canadian peat moss and azomite on top?

i am interested in starting a compost..is compost the best type of soil? I am just looking for the best type of soil/fertilizer to get started on the growing process.

I would appreciate any form of clarification on this issue.

As for fertilizer I just finished an experiment

All trays had the exact same amount of seed (5.4 oz) same brand - same batch.
All were done in a commercial organic mix (Fafard)
(The mix has NO starter fertilizer)

Water was filtered

Heres what I did

1 - No fertilizer at all
2 - 1/2 rate Amozite
3 - 1/2 rate Kelp
4 - 1/2 rate Amozite and 1/2 rate Kelp
5 - 3/4 rate Amozite and 3/4 rate Kelp
6 - full rat Amozite and full rate Kelp

The results - virtually no difference in yield
Differences were 1 ounce of less per tray - which could be attributed to other factors - location on bench, amount of water. (Water was not measured - everything was bottom watered and some benches could have gotten slightly more water than others)

There was no visible difference in the trays - all had the same color green - all tasted the same.


As for the question "Was the juice from the ones with fertilizer more nutritious?" - I had no way of testing that.

My conclusions - Fertilizer makes no difference in yield - possibly because it is such a short term crop that the seed itself contained enough nutrients to get the plant to harvest.

For now I am using 1/2 rate Amozite and 1/2 rate kelp - mostly to hedge the bet on the nutrition value of the juice.

I often use organic fertilizers.

They are much better.

Organic fertilizers are naturally-occurring fertilizers (e.g. peat moss or green manure), or naturally occurring mineral deposits (e.g. saltpeter).

Naturally occurring organic fertilizers include manure, slurry, worm castings, peat, seaweed, humic acid, brassin and guano. Sewage sludge use in organic agricultural operations in the U.S. has been extremely limited and rare due to USDA prohibition of the practice (due to toxic metal accumulation, among other factors)
Organic fertilizers also re-emphasize the role of humus and other organic components of soil, which are believed to play several important roles:

* Mobilizing existing soil nutrients, so that good growth is achieved with lower nutrient densities while wasting less
* Releasing nutrients at a slower, more consistent rate, helping to avoid a boom-and-bust pattern
* Helping to retain soil moisture, reducing the stress due to temporary moisture stress
* Improving the soil structure
* Helping to prevent topsoil erosion (responsible for desertfication and the Dust bowl

Organic fertilizers also have the advantage of avoiding certain problems associated with the regular heavy use of artificial fertilizers:

* The necessity of reapplying artificial fertilizers regularly (and perhaps in increasing quantities) to maintain fertility
* Extensive runoff of soluble nitrogen and phosphorus, leading to eutrophication of bodies of water (which causes fish kills)
* Costs are lower for if fertilizer is locally available
