I've grown it outside. What I did was I was growing wheatgrass in my trays during the summer time and then after I had harvested and cut the wheatgrass from the tray, I took out the wheatgrass from the tray and placed the rooted mat of grass onto my garden bed of soil. Watered it daily and the wheatgrass grew pretty fast. For me though growing indoors is alot easier as I do not need pounds and pounds of wheatgrass

Only one cutting will be good for juicing! You can get a second growth but it will be rough. Not as tall or uniform as the first growth.I dont think you could expect to sell a second cutting.Growing in flats is the best way to grow wheat or barlygrass. The spent flat can be recyceled via composting. If you are going to grow a lot of grass composting and a vermiculture will help keep your costs down.Good luck and happy growing!!!

Mold Problems?????>>>>>
First obtain certifed organic SPROUTING berries(seeds) Hard red winter or spring (my favorite).Do not OVER soak your berries......7-10 hours is plenty. Next sprout your berries until you seed the roots appearing. Good seeds will grow in your trays ...Long roots tend to break off giving you damage and less yeild per tray. Avoiding mold means ....Too much...not enough...or just right.Less watering AFTER the second day of growth is better. Moist trays ....not wet and mushy. The roots will start to rot...and THEN mold will start to take over. If the trays seem dry the third day...do it to it with more water....otherwise back off.Defused sunlight is the same senerio...too much not enough or enough to support the grass to get green from the bottom up....this past week was the SHORTEST day of the soltis....I pulled my shade cloth back about a week ago to let in more defused light. Ventalation is VERY important. Buya REAL turbo (High cfm.)fan...if you are serious about consistancy with your growing. Do not compromise....good air flow...Heat and humidity.are your enemy.and..let mother nature take it's toll! Put some space inbetween your trays. air flow ALL around is benificial. 6-10 inches. Make sure your water is pure....NO CLORINE(tap water)...From a well remember Bactierial Iron will also promote Mold. Winter wheat crops at 7-10 inches...SPRING between 5-7....Letting the wheatgrass grow too tall also invites the mold problem. Last....Do not confuse a seed or two with a white puff on it....it is known as a Silica burst...common and not really a problem. After growing commercially for the past 9 years....And hoping , wishing , and praying more HOME growers will appear. I hope these "Tips" will assit you. When you get it right .....pass it on! Eat Well and Stay GREEN and BE Healthy! ![]() Last edited by Wheatenergy : 07-01-2007 at 01:11 AM. |

First ....
Second cutting fresh wheatgrass is fed only by the roots..........
But the First cut wheatgrass is fed by the SEEDS and the ROOTS.... Think that SECOND cutting is missing something....?.,......YES! Next to the person in Canada....Growing fresh wheatgrass for commercial production is rudimental....too much...just RIGHT....and NOT enough. In Canada you get PLENTY of sunlight....But it is not very STRONG.... So according to the temperature and the humidity....constistant production can be difficult. ANY wheatgrass that is FROZEN....freeze dried ...or POWDERED...is DEAD FOOD and does not apply to FRESH! How much $$$ do you have set aside for a consultant.....?(what is it worth to you?) |

I think the only one acid will be acceptable for juicing! You can get a additional advance but it will be rough. Not as alpine or compatible as the aboriginal growth.I dont anticipate you could apprehend to advertise a additional cutting.Growing in flats is the best way to abound aureate or barlygrass. The spent collapsed can be recyceled via composting. If you are traveling to abound a lot of grass composting and a vermiculture will advice accumulate your costs down.Good luck and blessed growing!!!
