Thumbs up Raw food diet

The term Raw Food Diet describes a diet, which may or may not be vegan, consisting of raw fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. Some eat raw milk and eggs, others eat raw fish and/or meat. The exact definition of raw food varies, but the general consensus is that a food has not been altered by any method which would alter the chemical structure, especially through cooking, freezing, or the use of chemical preservatives.

A raw foodist is a person who consumes primarily raw food. Most raw foodists believe that the greater the percentage of raw food comprises the diet, the greater the resultant health benefits.

Advocates claim that a decrease of raw foods in our diet has caused an increase in the incidences of asthma, allergies, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, learning disabilities, depression, candida, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, and many other conditions.

Proponents of a raw food diet believe it dates to prehistoric eras, before humans discovered fire. Those who believe that prehistoric humans were largely non-carnivorous vegetarians believe that the human digestive system is largely configured to eat a mainly raw, mainly vegetarian diet, while those who believe their primitive ancestors to have been chiefly hunters, believe the opposite to be true. There are as many shades of variance between the two positions as there is historical evidence for a wide range of hunter gatherer activities, ranging from a low intake of animal product, such as with some tribes of Australian Aborigines, to an almost exclusively meat and fish diet, as was the situation for the Eskimos. Incidentally, both the Aborignes and the Eskimos were raw foodists, to a certain extent. The Aborigines would eat certain animal products raw to obtain maximum nutritional benefit, and the Eskimos would eat much of their meat and fish raw. The etymology of the word 'eskimo' originates from the Abenaki word meaning “eaters of raw meat.”

Artturi Virtanen (1895 d. 1973), a Nobel Prize-winning biochemist, is often quoted as supporting a Living Foods diet. He showed that enzymes in uncooked foods are released in the mouth when vegetables are chewed. These enzymes interact with other substances, notably the enzymes produced by the body itself, to produce maximum benefit from the digestion process. This research was unrelated to his Nobel Prize.

It gained more prominence throughout the 1900s, as proponents such as Ann Wigmore and Herbert Shelton claimed that a diet of raw fruits and vegetables could cure various diseases. Raw food diets continued to exist as radical off-shoots of the vegetarian diet until 1975, when computer programmer-turned-nutritionist Viktoras Kulvinskas published Survival Into the 21st Century. It is considered to be the first modern publication that deals with a raw food diet. In recent years, a growing movement of raw foodists has emerged who advocate the inclusion of raw animal foods, including raw meat. Principal among these is Aajonus Vonderplanitz, who has cured himself of several diseases, and helped thousands of others to do the same through the use of his Primal Diet.

The raw food lifestyle has gained some recent acceptance, though not all nutrition experts condone it. Restaurants catering for this way of eating have opened up in many cities, and numerous all-raw cookbooks have been published. It has also received celebrity endorsements from entertainers like Demi Moore and Woody Harrelson, who have been known to follow a raw food diet.

Invididuals such as Dr. Joel Fuhrman, Dr. Gabriel Cousens, Gillian McKeith and Professor Colin Campbell (see the China project) advocate diets high in raw, unprocessed foods. They claim that social trends over the past several centuries that have diverged from this diet, together with increasingly less active lifestyles, have contributed in large measure to the development and continued increase of noncommunicable diseases and obesity-related illnesses which are prevalent in developed countries. These include cardiovascular illnesses, some cancers, diabetes and some auto-immune diseases.

One affair I absolutely admired about this diet is that I apparent new foods IвЂd never been absorbed in before, including okra and Asian pears. I aswell enjoyed the simple blooming smoothies fabricated from bananas, spinach, and water. I apprehend to abide adequate those foods for a continued time to come.

I agree. One of the points of the raw food diet is that cooked food is actually toxic to the body, so the body builds up a thick layer mucus in the intestinal tract to protect itself. This layer only allows a tiny fraction of foot nutrients through. When you go on a raw food diet, this layer eventually disappears and the body can absorb as much as 30 % of food as pure nutrients, so the body needs a TINY FRACTION of the food it once did. And thusly, raw food people are much more aware of how full they are and over eating is not even an issue anymore. Good luck on your journey.

The raw food diet contains fewer trans fats and saturated fat than the typical Western diet. It is also low in sodium and high in potassium, magnesium, folate, fiber and health promotion of plant chemicals called phytochemicals.

While on the raw food diet I experienced strength gains at a rapid pace. This is all while losing weight. When I experienced strength gains in the past it was accompanied by an increase in my body weight as well. The strength boost first became apparent on Day 7 (link), when I went up in each of my exercises by a total of 5 lbs. By the end of Day 30, I was up a total of 20 lbs in each exercise. Up until this diet, I had reached a plateau in terms of strength. If you are an athlete and strength is a factor you might want to give this diet a try. After eating raw foods for 30 days, I went back to eating cooked foods of all kinds again. Shortly after, I lost the gains I had made up until that point. The loss in strength came fast and I was at my previous capacity within a week. As a side note, my endurance went down dramatically as well.

I think the raw food diet is based on the belief that the most healthful food for the body is uncooked. Raw food can essentially survive in India why? Ample of kachey baseli sabjiya and no dearth of Reliance and other big ass supercash companies opening up and selling stale food by giving you 15 minutes of Air conditioning.

here are different ways that people follow a raw food diet. Most people who follow a raw food diet are vegan. Some consume raw animal products, such as raw milk, cheese made from raw milk, sashimi, ceviche (raw fish), or carpaccio (raw meat). Some people eat only raw foods, while others include cooked food for variety and convenience. The percentage of raw food is usually 70 percent or more of the diet.

Raw food detox diets or cleanses are entering the mainstream. People typically go on a detox diet for 3 to 21 days. After the detox diet or cleanse, they may continue a raw food diet, return to their regular diet, or try to improve their daily diet by consuming more raw foods.

I am planning to switch my cats to a raw food diet. one of my cats has severe allergies (32 of them to be exact). I have done some extensive reading about the raw diet and it says to add healthy power to each meal. There are many ingredients in this mixture, one of which is yeast. My cat is allergic to yeast so I cannot include this in the mixture. Is there something else I can use that has the same nutritional value? Or is it ok to simply omit it from the recipe without causing any kind of nutritional deficiency?

Fried and boiled food losses more and more vitamin and other good things in it. So its really necessary to eat some raw food also so you can accommodate all the good things from it.

I searched on net, that is it really helpful for one to have raw food and say that he is on a diet...what I got , I am posting here...and I want you guys should tell me that how many points are actually true in this.
Quote:
1. Raw foods are better quality, therefore you eat less to satisfy your nutritional needs. The heat of cooking depletes vitamins, damages proteins and fats, and destroys enzymes which benefit digestion. As your percentage of raw foods increases you feel satisfied and have more energy on smaller meals because raw food has the best balance of water, nutrients, and fiber to meet your body’s needs.

2. Raw foods have more flavor than cooked foods so there is no need to add salt, sugar, spices, or other condiments that can irritate your digestion system or over stimulate other organs.

3. Raw foods take very little preparation so you spend less time in the kitchen. Even a child of 5 or 6 can prepare most items for breakfast, lunch or dinner. This gives children a sense of self-esteem and independence, not to mention the break it gives Mom or Dad.

4. When you are eating raw there’s little chance of burns, unless you’re in the middle of a forest fire or out in the sun too long. Just think! No burns to tongues, the roof of your mouth, or fingers, and many fewer house fires.

5. Cleaning up after a raw meal is a snap. No baked-on oils or crusty messes. And any inedible parts go directly to the compost pile.

Overall, I liked the raw food diet, and this is not too much trouble with a different, even if you do it during the test in the winter when the availability and quality of fresh produce are not the best. I noticed a huge drop in desire for sweets, and I was fully saturated with sweet fruit. Even when I return to cooked food after the trial, I do not want to eat something sweet fruit aside.
