Question Omega 8005 vs Champion

I have a Champion... don't care for it. Way too hard to clean, not all that easy to use. I've heard the Omega 8005 does Wheatgrass AND veggie/fruit juice. Is it easier to clean? Anyone used both to give a comparison?

Thanks!
Nancy

I have a greenstar2000 and love it but it does take some time to clean.I started with a solostar2 single auger but kept breaking the juicing screen due to heavy use. Most people who own omega products speak very highly of them.It just depends on what you plan to do with the juicer as far as what one to get.vitalityplus1.com has good info. on greenstar juicers and they have good prices as well.Good luck and happy shopping.

Thanks for the info JJ43... I've done more indepth research and found that the Omega 8005 is not the best if carrots is the main thing you juice.... which it is in my case.. arg! The thing is I don't juice as much as I should because I dont' like the cleanup! Plus I do want the added wheatgrass ability.

A single-auger Juicer is best for Wheatgrass. I use a Wheateena Green Label, but it'll only do Wheatgrass since it's so small. The best all-purpose Juicer is the Omega 8002. Take your Champion to the local Dump and trash it. It hasn't been improved in the last 40 years. Omega is constantly upgrading their line of juicers.........WY

Champion, Miracle MJ550, Omega 8005 & Vitamix

Old thread but I'm new and maybe someone else will benefit.

I had a Champion juicer and liked it for juicing veggies. My usual breakfast is a large pile of green leafy veggies, a lemon and an apple. Makes 32 ounces and is commonly called a "green lemonade" -- several people on Youtube make them, too.

What I didn't like about the Champion is the clean-up and that it warmed the juice -- never tested the temperature so I can't say if it was over 118-degrees or not, doubt it though. Taking it apart and putting it together is a minor pain as the tolerances are tight and you need to lube the shaft with olive oil or petroleum jelly. Other than that things are beasts, 90% motor and I like that. Nothing to go wrong with them. You can leave it in your will.

When I started juicing wheatgrass I bought a Miracle MJ550 juicer. It's a one trick pony but worked quite well and was pretty easy to clean. It's light weight so I put it away after using it. However, I was cleaning two juicers by hand everyday and that got annoying. I saw the Omega 8003 making wheatgrass juice on Youtube and bought the chrome version of it (8005) and sold both of the others.

The Omega is similar to the Miracle to clean and does wheatgrass as well as other veggies, including carrots. Now I have one juicer, and do one fairly quick and painless cleaning a day. I did wheatgrass first then the veggies. Downsides are that when doing wheatgrass some juice goes into the pulp bin initially, but I run the pulp through the machine which fixes that. When taking it apart to clean there's a bit or juice seems to have remained in the unit. Not a hardship, but still. Also, the throat you put veggies in is rather small (1-1/2") so you do end up doing a bit of cutting first.

I recently added a Vitamix to my food prep tools and love it. I won't do wheatgrass in it but I could. Two ounces worth of wheatgrass and the pulp would be kind of hard to drink, you'd have to dilute it with water to get it down.

I now do all my veggie juices in it as I decided I wanted the fiber. It's fast, easy, and self-cleaning. Contrary to opinion, it only heats things up if you let it run on full high speed straight for over 2 minutes. At 4-minutes you can get hot soups. Takes about 30-seconds to make my juices.
