using wheatgrass for 2months
Hi,
My 17 year old son suffers from severe rhinitis allergy problem. I started giving him wheatgrass juice. I started with one ounce and now I am giving him 5-7 oz. every morning. he is taking the juice for the past 2 months. in the beginning he showed signs of recovery, but now for the past 15-20 days he's having very severe allergy. Somebody please let me know if I should continue with the juice(for how long?) or should I stop it. I really need to know. Please help!! |

Wheatgrass often contains mold, it is a real problem for growers. It is possible that your supply started as clean and has become contaminated. If it is mold in the wheatgrass that is aggravating your son, the reaction will stop right away. If you determine it to be related to the juice, just get a clean source and continue use as the initial benefits you experienced will return. Our company specializes in producing mold free wheatgrass juice. We would be delighted to hear from you if you determine this is your issue.

can increased allergy be healing crisis
thanks for the comments.
I don't think my wheatgrass has mold 'cos after every harvest I dry the soil completely in the sun, then I use it for next crop. Moreover we all drink the juice and we are fine, only my son's allergy aggravated(we don't suffer from allergy). Can it be some kind of healing crisis? Still I'll welcome more comments on this. |

Just a couple of quick notes. In a healing crisis, the challenges happen at the start not the middle. The introduction of certain elements (chlorophyll being one), starts the process of detoxification in which toxins enter the blood stream before being expelled by the body. It is possible to feel worse before better. On the other hand, it is not necessary or desirable to create a healing crisis. So even if it is a healing crisis, you should reduce usage to avoid negative effects. It is much more likely that mold is your issue. Molds release something called mycotoxins. The problem with mycotoxins is that they negative affect some and not others. With different mycotoxins, the problem might be 100% reversed where he is fine and everyone else experiences negative effects. For many grown allergies occur where reactions start as non-existent, progress to mild and then become very serious. Molds come right from the seeds, not the soil and are made worse by improper growing environments (shallow trays, no UV light, no airflow, high density planting, too much heat). Molds are a big problem. In the book, "Wheatgrass - Nature's Finest Medicine" by Steve Meyerowitz, molds are discussed on pages 93-94, 98, 113, 115, 158-161, 163-173, 175-176, 197, 202, 210 and 217. Think about this a slightly different way. Today, a mycotoxin called "aflotoxin" is a problem in peanuts. It wasn't when we were children. The problem is so big, and the reactions so serious that peanut products are no longer allowed in schools. Even so, not every child is affected...how could it be that one is unaffected and another goes into anaphylactic shock. The answer is that mycotoxins released by fungi are very powerful and peculiar. Read more on Wikipedia here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mycotoxin

Thanks Derek
Actually you were right. Two days back I was cleaning the soil, I saw the mold right at the roots of the grass.It was white in colour and there was some milky substance in the seed as well. That time I thought about your comment and immediately discontinued the usage. Now I will bring new soil and plant all over again. Your suggestions have really helped me a lot in understanding the grass and the mold. I will welcome more suggestions on the sowing of seeds. How long should I soak it and how long should I keep it for sprouting etc. many thanks again! |
