Just Joined question
I have been growing wheat grass for my father since Thanksgiving. I can only give him about a ounce at a time. Even with just a ounce his stomach hurts after he drinks it. I originally thought he would acclimate to the juice after some time, but I am wondering if he will ever get used to it. HE is elderly, 80 years old. I have tried mixing it with apple juice and it would still make him sick, it would also raise his blood sugar significantly when I mixed it with apple juice, he is a diabetic. Been using a hand juicer, just got in the twin gear 2000, think it was the green power juicer, it came in today. I would sure like to come up with a way he could drink this stuff as I do think it would be so beneficial.
Thanks |

One ounce at a time is perfectly fine for a beginner in order to get use to the taste and also the effects of wheatgrass. You had the right idea in mixing wheatgrass with something else but because he is diabetic I would stay away from high sugar fruits such as apples. Try mixing it with some carrot juice.
What I actually do sometimes is juice up some carrot juice and then throw in one or two wheatgrass juice ice cubes. How do you make wheatgrass ice cubes? You simply juice up alot of wheatgrass and pour the juice into ice cub trays after a couple hours they are nice and hard and ready for storage in a plastic bag. Its nice because you don't have to juice wheatgrass everytime you want some. Lastly just to let you know that field grown wheatgrass actually has less sugar in it than tray grown wheatgrass, so if it still tastes too sweat you may want to search out sources for outdoor wheatgrass. |

Hello Jake your grandfather is lucky to have such a careing grandson. The issue of suger diabetes is a big one.Controling his sugar is of utmost importance! All fruit juices will be problems as well as all tubers/beets/carrots.All greens in moderation should be ok.But that will depend on how healthy grandpa is.Is he taking insulin,tyepe1or2 diabetes.Ihave a simaler situation with my mother she has type2.She takes oral med. and has her sugar under good control.I makeher juice with carrot 75% apple20% beet3%parsley2%.She has 1, 8oz. serving in the morning with a fiber supplement. The fiber helps slow the absorption of the juice. So far she has refused to try wheatgrass juice.I have gotten her to take fish oil which helps with the suger. And a b-vitamin supp. as well. There is a lot of info on diabetes/diabeticwarrior.com is a good place to start.I hope this helps.

Upset the "doctor" ???
Most of the people that I have known with diabetes.Drink FRESH wheatgrass juice and find that...most often cure the condition...some start at it unknowinly until the doctor mentions that it is going away......These are the people who drink it with there spouse while treating another condition.or just for the energy stamia and extra foucus....Remeber the word I use...MOST. Depending on metabolics and genetics. 100% on this planet is getting harder and harder to find. Question...do we really need 21 duferent kinds of Colgate tooth paste for instance?? Right now the public here is a gluten for punishment...the food and the "modern medicines" are VERY patronizing. And I do not spell well anymore.

wheatgrass taste
Hi Jake
While doing a ten day wheatgrass fast we juiced fresh ginger in with the wheatgrass which seemed to give a nicer flavor and did seem to ease the discomfort I was experiencing. After a few days of wheatgrass and water we were looking for anything that might alter that taste. I have also heard that when your stomach hurts as mine often did, resulting in just having to rest, means that thats one way you know the wheatgrass was pulling the toxins out of your body. Knowing this helped me to just be with the discomfort. Best Heather |

Whole Foods Market sells a .........
Ginger Chew that can help....I keep Pure Peppermint oil and put a drop on someones arm....So if they a getting Quesy just smelling the fresh wheatgrass juice ...many times just because they are acidic ...or very toxin from..radiation..chemo therapy....antibiotics...barbituates(pain killers fromthe dentist for instance).....and alot of the chemicals that do not flush out of the body when injested with dining out. The smell of the Peppermint pure oil settles the stomach...and sometimes a drop on the tounge is the answer also.
You are correct in advising that once the "Detoxing Drill" is finished the rest of the way is total enjoyment of Better Health! Some people Care and CAN do it....some are lazy and go back to the doctors who You all may notice it is getting harder and harder to find a drugstore...Yeah ...right! |
