Wheatgrass/barley grass and teeth

Hi all,

I'm a 17 year old boy from the Netherlands, and I've heard about wheatgrass (my father is also interested in it). So my father bought barley juice powder. I drink some barley juice every day now (since yesterday, so I'm just starting).
But, now I've heard the story, that if you have amalgam in your teeth (as a dental filling), that the juice could dissolve some of the amalgam in your teeth, and you can get a poisoning. Is this true?
Are are there any risks? Are there any precautions I should take?

Well, thanks, everybody for giving me advice. (oh and by the way, I know some people in my environment who have some health problems, like arthritis etc., should I recommend them to drink barley juice? Are there people on this forum who cured a disease with barley/wheatgrass juice?)

Thanks,
Caspar

Hi Casper,
I'm not sure about the "amalgam", but wheatgrass and barley grass are completely natural and so have almost no side effects.

Yes I would recommend everyone drink it, even if they are not sick. Just remember it isn't a cure all, but it does do wonders for the health of your body.

Re

Dental amalgam is the most commonly used dental restorative material used for dental fillings. First introduced in France in the early 19th century, it contains a mixture of mercury with at least one other metal. Amalgam has been the restorative method of choice for many years due to its low cost, ease of application, strength, durability, and bacterio static effects. Factors that have led to recent decline in use are a lingering concern about detrimental health effects, aesthetics, and environmental pollution. The aesthetic issue is because the metallic colour does not blend with the natural tooth colour. This is especially a concern when used on front teeth, but it can be addressed using alternative dental material

Wheatgrass juice and barley grass juice both provide optimal amounts of chlorophyll as well as vitamins, minerals and enzymes. They do however contain slightly different nutrients and therefore offer some slightly different benefits.

A daily wheatgrass shot, occasionally switched for a barley grass shot will cover all your bases.
