storing wheatgrass flats
I just bought a juicer and my first flat of wheatgrass. It seems like it takes so much grass to get one ounce of juice. But my question is how do I store the flat? Do I need to spritz with water? Can I leave it on my kitchen counter in my air conditioned home and for what length of time? How long will the juice stay once I juice it? A day? An hour? I just want to get the most for my money and make sure I'm not losing any nutrients by the way I'm storing the grass. Thanks for any info you can give me!!

The longest time for keeping a flat is about 20 days from germination. But conditions can shorten the length of time a flat will last.Wheatgrass likes 70 degrees so you can keep it inside. It will need moisture like any plant to stay alive.Try not to overwater, otherwise mold can be a problem.Drinking the juice as soon as possible is best as far as enzymes are concerned.Watering before juicing will improve the juice yield,an hour before!Spraying with a spray bottle should do just fine.Or you could harvest the hole tray and put the cut grass in the fridge. The grass will keep for a week to 10 days.If you can grow flowers or a garden, it would be more cost effective to grow wheatgrass yourself. Its not that difficult to grow if you have some gardening experiance. What kind of juicer are you using for the wheatgrass? Is the pulp coming out bone dry? There are some good books on wheatgrass, I would recomend Natures Finest Medicine by Steve Meyerowitz.May you be blessed with vibrant health!!

Wheatgrass flats......
Having grown fresh wheatgrass for 8 years in Florida(heat and humidity make it tough, if you are not air-conditioned) The previous post is correct that growing oyur own wheatgrass can be MUCH better than alot of the quick grown commercial trays...We use to amend our soiless grow mix(Canadian peat and Perlite with no wetting agent or start up fertalizer(chemicals)with Food Grade Sea Kelp....expesive ...YES but theblades of our wheatgrass tend to be very broad and not skinny.....Showing that the grass and ROOTS are healthy and taking up the nutriments and minerals. Also we recommend using Mother Nature(SUNLIGHT>>>defused not direct) instaed of grow lights.....to get the full CHI from the juice. You can but oats before they go into the horse...or you can buy oats after they come out of the horse ...OF couse the price and what you get are different....so cutting the wheatgrass from the tray TWICE is not recommended...Question: Is the tray you purchased growing in at least two inches of grow mix? Or just a half inch of roots at the bottom of the tray(hydroponic)? Are your roots staying PURE white or are they turning brown? Most Hard red Winter wheatgrass is harvested between 7-10 inches...I prefer the Hard RED SPRING wheatgrass cut at 5-7 inches...more vibrant and better flavor intonation. Thats it from Florida.
