My first wheat grass drink

I started juicing about two weeks ago, supplementing about a meal a day with different juice receipes. Today for the first time I juiced some wheat grass. I had not read anything on it specifically, and juiced about four to six ounces, mixing it with carrot, beet, and apple juice, making a 12 oz drink.

About 30 min. later, I got a headache, got flushed, and had a heavy fatigued feeling, then I purged like never before.

15 years ago, I worked around a lot of serious chemicals for about 5 years, and in the last 15 years I've gradually become out of shape. I am almost 50, hence the correction to try and get back into shape before I suffer any serious health problems.

Did I drink too much wheat grass the first time? How much should I drink? How long will I feel this bad after drinking it? Could this overload my kidneys or liver, which are probably filled with toxins?

The yellow bile of your stomach...trys to protect your liver bladder spleem and kidneys. ....thus when the wheatgrass juice hit the bile it triggered your sysytem to extude the toxins that are abuntantly present....and as you guess have been collecting for many years. Most people purge only the first time....but radiation...barbituates...antibiotics...ect. can "collect in the bile SOME people purge more than one ocassion in the beginnning. Once is the average. Detoxing to quickly can be hard on the individual doing the detox.Enzyme replacement therapy is a great way to regain health and vitality.The more raw enzyme laiden foods you consume the better.Grass juice is the strongest juice for cleansing the body.Its best to go slowly a 1oz. shot or mixed on and empty stomach is plenty at first.Once you become familiar with the effects to yourself you can add more.You are on the right trak,just went to fast!What type of juicer are you using?Are you growing your own gass?

Thanks for the feedback, I am using a Omega 8005. I owned a juiceman in the past, but did not like the amount of work to clean it each time. The breakdown and cleaning of this unit is fast and easy. I really like it in comparison. On the question of growing, I have not seriously considered that yet. I purchased my first wheat grass from a local COOP called Ozark Natural Foods. They have a grower there that is very particular and dedicated to his craft. I was impressed by him, and encouraged to think about growing my own in the future. I am going to work first on getting mind and body to a better place. I think the key is green.
