Hydro-Ponics
2 questions:
1. I am currently growing wheatgrass hyrdoponically... w/o soil. I've grown one batch so far, and it came out great. However, after doing some reading I have realized that there are less nutrients in my wheatgrass because it cannot draw minerals or anything from the soil, because it is not growing in soil. Are there any powders, or anything that I could or should add that could add to the wheatgrass (to make it more potent)? 2. Because it is winter time and quite cold, it is taking my wheat grass 13 days to grow. Is there anyway to speed up the process (maybe a growing light)? I'm currently growing it in a sunlit window in my garage, so it is getting some direct light but since it is in my garage it's pretty cold (slowing down the growing process). Thanks! |

You are trying...and that is what counts.......
If you enhance your growing with grow lights...the natural osmosis of the sun are not obtained.....it looks great and tastes great but the natural; "chi" is just not there. Chi is the energy you SHOULD get from fresh wheatgrass cut right off the tray.
Where are you growing.....usa...canada. Some parts of this country and canada just do not get strong enough sunlight...but recieve plenty of it. I do not advocate artificial lighting...but if that IS YOUR CIRCUMSTANCE...go for it. I use only a food grade sea kelp meal. A liquid version is apllicable for what you are doing. Remeber wheatgrass is wheatgrass no matter what you amend you growing with. But pure natural sunlight IS inportant. FIND a local organic suply house that carry certifed organic growing products...try not to use humus.....it will make the wheatgarss absorb...to much liquid.....and rotting is the end result....not more juice. Also try to warm the area you are growing in...it should decrease your growing time. Last edited by Wheatenergy : 02-06-2007 at 04:47 AM. |

Food GRADE Sea Kelp Meal.....
In MY opinion provides some minerals and IMPROVES the flavor intonation of FRESH wheatgrass juice....works for me the past 9 years....And believe me I experimented with MANY other amendments for growing Wheatgrass...for me it is an optimum ingridient.
Be open minded and try other things...why not. I grow commercially and wanted to provide GREAT wheatgrass in every aspect of what I thought would make our wheatgrass Primium...... From the biginning///// I could make twice the PROFIT by NOT using the Kelp Meal.....and NOT using a chemical free SOILESS custom grow mix....Canadian Peat with Perlite( the two secret ingridients...shhhhish!). ps. if you grow sprouts...you do not have to put ANY fertalizer at all. This can be a TRUE statement about Mother Nature and FRESH wheatgrass! The more people at home growing their own wheatgrass....and the MORE commercial wheatgrass growers will mean that BETTER health alternatives will be KNOWN amongest the MASSES of people eating out of dumsters(fast food) and taking the Drugs with the SIDE EFFECTS....that just create more problems...and MAKE the big money for the patronizing profitires.....who rule the way we are ABLE to live. |
