Fresh Life Sprouter? Dirt or No dirt?

Hi, I'm new to the wheatgrass thing. Here's the deal. I'm 36 and I feel like crap all the time. I've been mostly vegan for about a year. Some meat, but little. I want to detox after vacation and stop smoking and quit drugs and meat and get my life in order.

However, I don't have the time and resources to build an elaborate wheatgrass system in my basement. If it were simple, I'd do it. I live in Massachusetts. The climate is not optimal for outside growing.

So, is the Fresh Life Sprouter, which does not use dirt, going to produce quality wheatgrass as good as soil? If not, I'm pretty much out of luck. I've been to so many wheatgrass sites in the past week, all I am is more confused then when I started.

Now, if I could just get a tray, put dirt from home depot and seeds in it and put it in my basement and water it, I'd be fine. But I don't have the time for much more than that. Do you suggest I just give up on this, or get the above mentioned sprouter. To me, it seems that if it does not grow in dirt, it's not going to have the enzymes / nutrients if it were grown in a good soil.

Any help is appreciated.

Kevin

freshlifesprouter dot com is the one I'm looking at.

No brainer.....

First all the hoopla about what ever.....if you grew wheatgrass in your hand YOU would still have the gift of the Wheat Sprouts......

Growing up to the splitting stage is HYPE......Yound and vibrant is the best deal....splitting grass is going INTO the seed cycle...YOUNGER is better..think about it.

I sell a grow kit with 8 trays...4 pounds of food grade sea kelp....12 pounds of Certifed Organic Hard Red Spring wheat Berries(seeds...+_ a 2.8 cu ft Bag of the Soiless custom grow Mix I use here ...for the past nine years....Cost $39.95......+ S&H- Drelichwheatgrass.com Send me your zip and I can let you know the UPS ground shipping charges...Use the Private mail feature.

The "kit" ships out of here at about 65 pounds!.....With the price of EVERYTHING today...It will be as much as the kit costs you to ship it more than likely.

Gas ..food ..medication...health care...and extended warrenties...WHERE are we anyhow??? Prices////! My zip here is 32820 check it out your self...I do not mark up the ups charges....But add in about $5.oo for the box and bubble wrap.

No idea what you mean about splitting stage. Yeah, that sounds like a good deal. However I live in MA where the sun doesn't come out much and it's usually Winter 9 months a year. Do I grow this in my basement or does it have to be in the sun? I know nothing about growing anything, especially wheatgrass. As an experiment, I bought some winter wheat seeds at a local nut and berry tree hugger shop

Not that I'm against tree huggers, I'm starting to become one myself. Anyhow, I bought this seed and put it in a jar with some spring water with a piece of sea kelp and 1/4 tsp mineral salt. I let it soak 8 hours, rinsed and repeated. I bought some organic compost dirt and a long window flower pot. I'm going to put the seed in there when it starts to sprout in the jar. If this is correct. Anyhow, your stuff sounds good as well. How much grass will that yeild before I have to reorder? What is appealing about the automatic sprouter is that it's pain free as far as the work you have to do. But if the manual method yeilds a better crop, and I can do it inside, I'd rather go that route.

Thanks, Kevin

Kevin

From your personal intonation......

I would get the automatic sprouter.....EASY way to sprout a variety of seeds....andf to the good side you will not be growing wheatgrass like Jack in the bean Stalk....shorter 5-7 inches is better, younger and more vibrant, again just my opinion.....and hundreds of customers for the past 9 years.

Check out the Sproutman (Steve Meyerowitz...he has one that he recommends.

The COLDER dryer air by you is a benifit!
Try to use defused Natural SUNLIGHT.....Grow lights will get the wheatgrass to grow...BUT the natural CHI (energy ) will NOT be as potent. ps. Skip the salt in the water....and put the kelp into the grow mix.
If you try AZOMITE(mineral rock compound) be careful....it can make your wheatgrass taste terrible if you go much beyound just a little.....Kelp is BEST!(my opinion).

Here If I water too much....or plant the seeds too thick in the SOILESS custom grow mix Mold will be evident for sure.(COMPOSTEDsoil mix...according to to modern Organic Certifiers is more apt to induce Ecoli or Salmonella potential) Topical Mold has been tested to be harmless....but it is not pretty. Subterainial MOLD...can make you sick or kill you.( a while back they removed ALL the packaged spinach for a while.)

Big shin-dig for my 8 month old Grandaughter today...gotta go.
