I think the main concern about being a Marine should be what does it represent. Take a look at what the US army is fighting for. Remember even Bush recognized that there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. There was never an Al Quaeda connection. Sadam Husein was put into power and maintained by the CIA. He worked with the Bush family and Rumsfeld (amongst others) Only when he became disobediant was the spin changed. Only then did we need to 'liberate' his people. Iraq is a war about petrol. The only people winning over there are the petrol companies, the arms dealers and the construction companies rebuilding the country, eg: Haliburton etc.. Even if no one stole things in the bunkers, we are stealing the lives of 10's of thousands of Iraqui people. (over 50.000 citizens killed since the war began) Veterans are coming back from that war and setting up orginazations such as 'Iraqi veterans against the war' because their lives are being destroyed by guilt and remorse for the horrors being done to that country. There is an alamring mounting number of veteran suicides. Funds are being cut to help veterans readapt to life once back in the states. I just tried adding url's of footage from iraqi veterans against the war but i am not allowed to post url's in this mail. Feel free to contact me or google: American News Project and the do a search for the story: Iraq: One winter soldiers tale. There are other intense stories under the search veterans but this was the strongest i've seen. I strongly suggest hearing first hand testimonies before making your decision to be a marine. Afghanistan is also all about petrol. The president that was put in place by the Americans: Hamid Karzai used to be a former UNOCAL advisor. There's alot of information out there and i'd be happy to pass on stuff if you are interested. Honestly getting robbed should not be the main concern but rather understanding what it means to go to war for America should be more important. You're better off growing wheatgrass, healing yourself, healing our community, healing our earth so we can have a happy peaceful place to live together.

Does stealing happen often on bases, should I keep my good clothing at home? What's a typical day look like once you get stationed somewhere, the recruiter didn't bother to go in depth all I was told is that it starts at 7:30 and ends at 4:30? How good are the combat sports, or just recreational activities on bases? Do people usually end up with the top picks of the jobs they want? Thank you.
